Rychlik, Carl J. Age 87, of Stratford, died on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at St. Vincent Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Winifred (Broad) Rychlik. Mr. Rychlik was a 1943 graduate of Harding High School and a 1949 graduate of the University of Bridgeport. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and participated at the Invasion of Normandy. Mr. Rychlik was a certified public accountant with the firm of Rychlik & Rychlik, C.P.A. in Stratford for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and vacationing at Cape Cod. He had been a member of the Connecticut Society of Public Accountants since 1958. Mr. Rychlik loved Naval history and attending Navy reunions. He also enjoyed photography. Survivors include five children, Sharon Rychlik, Ann R. Mazotas and her husband Ben, Paul T. Rychlik, Michael J. Rychlik and Teresa G. House and her husband Glenn, Sr.; one brother, Albert Rychlik and his wife Patricia; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son, John E. Rychlik; four sisters, Helen Coughlin, Martha Schurman, Frances Gnida, Genevieve Farrell; and one brother, Edward Rychlik. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 9:15 am at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford and at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Grace Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Our Lady of Grace Memorial Fund, 497 Second Hill La., Stratford, CT 06614.
