The young couple are known to many Aberdeenshire families.

Heir for Angus Laird

A son and heir has been born at Boughton Hall, Send Marsh Road, Send, Surrey GU23 7DJ 51.289107, -0.518300, to the wife of Mr Thomas Steuart Fothringham, of Pourie, Fothringham and Tealing, Angus.

Mr Fothringham is the second son of the late Lieutenant-Colonel W. Steuart Fothringham, on whose death last year the family estates were divided between his three sons. Donald inherited Murthly and Strathbraan; Pourie, Fothringham, and Tealing came to Thomas; and Patrick, the youngest, was given Grandtully.

Mr T. S. Fothringham is an architect, and received his training in Dundee. Motor racing is his great hobby, and in 1934 he won third place in the R.A.C. Tourist Trophy race at Belfast.

Mrs Fothringham is also well known in Angus. She was formerly Miss Carola Noel, youngest daughter of Major the Hon. Charles and Mrs Noel of Pitkerro House, Dundee.

Her marriage took place very quietly owing to the death of the bridegroom's father in April of last year at Pitkerro. She is 21, and was a debutante of the 1934 season.

The indoor and outdoor staffs of Fothringham and Tealing estates presented a silver porringer and spoon yesterday afternoon, Friday, 24 September 1937, to the infant heir, Robert Steuart Fothringham. The presentation was made by Mr Joseph Sharpe, head gamekeeper, and the gift was accepted by Mr Steuart Fothringham.

Mrs Fothringham planted a tree on the lawn also to mark the birth of the heir.

A bonfire was lit on Carrot Hill by Miss Marion Fothringham, and amongst those present were the laird and his wife, Messrs Donald and Patrick Fothringham, and estate employees and tenants.
