AHLERT, BERNHARDT MR. Obituary Muskegon Chronicle, Muskegon, Michigan, 7 July 1944, Page 17 BERNHARDT AHLERT. Bernhardt Ahlert, 76 years old, former resident of Dalton township and resident here since 1900, died today at his home at 336 Wood street, following an illness of eight months. Born in Pommern, Germany, on Sept. 13, 1867, he came to the United States with his parents as a child in 1871. They settled in Manistee and one year later, went to Dalton township. He married Miss Caroline Sack in Muskegon, March 5, 1898 and they came to Muskegon in 1900. Mr. Ahlert was employed as a car inspector with the Pere Marquette railroad for a number of years, as a machinist at Continental Motors corporation for several years and last as an oven tender at the Lakey Foundry and Machine company. He left Lakey’s in 1939, due to ill health as a result of an auto accident in October 1939, when he suffered several rib fractures and a broken leg. Mrs. Ahlert died here on Nov. 21, 1932. Mr. Ahlert was a member of the Jackson Avenue Congregational church. Surviving are one son, Albert Ahlert, Detroit, and two granddaughters. 8 July 1944, Page 12 AHLERT – Services for Mr. Bernhardt Ahlert, of 336 Wood Ave., will be held at 2:00 p. m. Monday at the Jackson Avenue Congregational church, Rev. John C. Willits officiating, and the interment will be in Fruitland Township cemetery. Friends wishing to view the remains may do so at the Pachesny Funeral Home until 11:30 a. m. Monday.
