IGI christening date of 9/2/1862 to parents James Benjamin Butcher and Caroline (IGI C131322). Possible birth record: North Aylesford, Kent, March qtr 2a/3_9, 1862. North Aylesford became Strood in 1884. Note later census entries show birthplace as Stroud, Kent. In 1871 she was living with her parents and 4 brothers at 14 Belle Vue Terrace, Kingston upon Hull. In 1881, she was employed as a domestic servant at the inn run by Hannah Wood in Hedon Street, Sculcoates, Yorkshire. Caroline is shown as aged 19, spinster on the marriage cert to Edward Watson on 20/6/1881 at St. Stephens parish church, Hull. Witnesses were James B Butcher (her father) and Julia Edith Booth. In 1891, Edward (seaman), Caroline (aged 29) and their children Laura (8), Elma (4) and Bruce (1) were resident at 3 Ivy Grove, Kingston upon Hull. In 1901 Caroline (widow; charwoman) and her children Laura (printer, machine feeder) and Frank (aged 5) were living at 3 Joy Grove, Hull. Her other children Bruce and Elma werestaying at the Hull Seaman
s and General Orphan Asylum (listed as orphans). In 1911, Caroline (49, widow) was living with her 2 sons Bruce (21) and Fred (15) at 3 Ivy Grove, Beech St in West Sculcotes, Yorkshire. The census shows that she had 4 children, all still living.The 1939 register shows: Caroline Watson (b. 31 Dec 1861, Private Means Oap Widowed) living alone at 3 Ivy Grove, Beech Street, Kingston-upon-Hull C.B., Yorkshire (East Riding).
