Miss Caroline Isaacs, only sister of the Governor General and Mr. John A. Isaacs, solicitor, died recently at the home of Mr. Isaacs, Goodal street, Auburn. Miss Isaacs, who was 72 years of age was in the best of health until the day before her death, when prior to retiring she was busily engaged making Christmas gifts for her youthful relatives. Death was due to heart failure. Miss Isaacs, who for many years lived in Beechworth with her parents and brothers, was keenly interested in charitable and welfare work, and her kindly personality endeared her to her many friends. She was extremely proud of the fact that her brother was Governor-General of the Commonwealth, and took a warm interest in his doings. Sir Isaac Isaacs said that throughout her life she had kept in touch with him daily. "She followed me around Australia on the telephone for her little daily talk," he said. "Where the telephone could not reach me she sent a telegram—a family attachment that had never been shattered until the day of her death. I always received letters from her." This family bond was not unique in the family. Sir Isaac Isaacs himself throughout his life, kept in daily touch by letter with his mother until her death.
