About Carrie Baker
Carrie was born in Woodrow, S.C., later moving as a small child to Rose Hill Plantation before the family moved to Wedgefield, S.C., where she finished her formal education from the "Girls' High School" in Sumter, S.C.
Carrie enjoyed laughter, family, flowers, cooking "a new recipe" and music. She loved her Lord and Savior. Her favorite all time preacher was the late Adrian Rogers. She will be remembered for her spirit of optimism, 'things could always be worse'. At the age of 65 she went to work at Epworth Methodist Children's Home, Columbia, S.C. and served as a houseparent, sharing her love until her retirement at age 71. She was a member of the campus church. Memorials may be sent to "Children's Playground Fund", New Prospect Baptist Church, 2209 Buffalo Springs Turnpike, Monroe, VA. 24574.
