Carrie was the daughter of Homer and Florence Buchanan Winstead and the wife of James Douglas Helm. Carrie attended grade school in Providence, graduated from Central High in Evansville and served as the Nebo postmaster for 30 years.
She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn (Roscoe) Oldham, Nancy (David) Parker and Peggy Stirsman, all of Madisonville: one son, Bob Helm of Eddyville: a daughter-in-law, Mila Howell:: six grandchildren, Kimberly Oldham, Sherry (Mark) Towe, Kathy (Larry) Glennon, Marsha (Paul) Padberg, Shawn (April) Helm and Eric(Lindsey)Helm and seven great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Kyle, Cole, Tyler, Carrie, Owen and Ansley.
