About Carrie Mitchum
Carrie Mitchum starred as Donna Logan, the innocent younger sister of Brooke Logan, who becomes a high fashion model with big ambitions of her own on the daytime drama The Bold and the Beautiful.
She was born Caroline Elizabeth Day Mitchum in Los Angeles on June 15, 1965, a third generation actress, following in the footsteps of her grandfather, Robert Mitchum, and her father, Christopher Mitchum. The eldest of four children, she has two brothers, Bentley and Kian, and a sister Jenny. Her father and mother (Cynthia) took Carrie to Europe with them while he was working on several films.
Mitchum was educated there, spending one year in England and four years in Spain where she learned to speak fluent French and Spanish. At the age of four, she was given her own horse and soon became an expert jumper, winning medals and trophies in various competitions.
Returning to the United States, she attended prep school in New England. Although she was always interested in acting, she didn't envision it as a real career and was mainly interested in horses. She attended Dartmouth for one year and then transferred to the University of California at Santa Barbara, where she began appearing in various student productions.
After a stint with a brokerage firm on Wall Street, Mitchum decided to pursue an acting career. She discussed this with her father, who stressed both the positive and negative sides of the profession, but offered his support in whatever decision she made. She then enrolled in the prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse, studying with the renowned Sanford Meisner and with Ron Stetson.
Mitchum was married to Casper Van Dien from 1993 to 1997. They have two children, Casper "Cappy" Robert Van Dien III and Caroline Dorothy Grace "Gracie" Van Dien, of whom Van Dien holds full custody. Van Dien had co-starred with her grandfather Robert Mitchum in James Dean: Race with Destiny.
In her spare time, Mitchum rides and enjoys all sports, especially snow skiing, swimming and tennis. She also loves to cook.
