About Cassandra Smith

GEDCOM Note

Email message from Rebekah Boyd, 10-15-98 to Kathleen Bowen: "According to my files, Ruth Childs, daughter of Henry Childs Jr. [b. England, dc. 1736 AA Co., MD] & Margaret Preston [m.c. 1709/10], who married Plummer Ijams, was sister to my Childs ancestor, Cassandra Childs [1713-1785] who married Nathan Smith [1694-1751] of Calvert Co., MD. Ruth was named as a minor in 1738 when an account on her father's estate was filed in AA Co. by his widow. Other siblings of Ruth & Cassandra named in the account were: Henry, Ann, Cephas, William, Lawrence [name given elsewhere as Luraner], who were all minors, & a daughter who married John Sanders [Elizabeth], & a daughter who married Micajah Plummer [Margaret]. The Childs' & Plummers were Quakers. Henry Childs, Jr. etal were the children of Henry Childs [Sr]. Quaker records record: 'Henry Child, lately from England with divers of his children, produced a certificate showing unity with Friends [Quakers] & clearness from engagement of marriage on 1st day of 14th month [Jan] 1702[03?].' No research has ever been done to my knowledge to determine his English marriage, & as far as I know, he never remarried in this country; he died in AA Co., testate in 1740, after his son Henry Jr. After the death of her husband Henry Childs, Jr. in 1736, Margaret (Preston) Childs was married the Quaker, Jerome Plummer, by 1738 when she filed the account on his estate. I have no dates for any of the children of Henry Jr. other than Cassandra..." Rebekah P. Boyd, P.O. Box 177, La Plata, MD 20646-0177.
