About Catharine Locklear

There is no proof that Shadrack DEESE is Catharine's father! Find a Grave

Birth: unknown North Carolina, USA

Death: May 13, 1890 Robeson County, North Carolina, USA

Catharine DEESE married 1st James "Big Jim" OXENDINE 5 Nov 1842 Robeson County, NC. James OXENDINE & Delilah Eliza LOWERY had their 1st child 7 Jul 1845.

Catharine Deese married Purnell Locklear on Nov. 28, 1853 in Robeson county, North Carolina. Purnell Locklear passed away between the 1870 and 1880 Federal Censuses (Catharine is listed as a widow on 1880 Census).

Although listed as Locklears on the 1860, 1870, and 1880 Federal Censuses, it appears Catharine and her children reverted to Deese as their surnames later.

Her eldest son, James Maston Deese, married Sarah Jane Chavis on Jan. 12, 1873 in Robeson county, North Carolina. Around 1890, he moved his family to Houston county, Alabama.
