Catharine Leslie was the daughter of Alexander Leslie, Lord Balgonie and Lady Margaret Leslie.[1],[2]

She married George Melville, 1st Earl of Melville, son of John Melville, 3rd Lord Melville of Monymaill and Anne Erskine, on 18 January 1655.[2] From 18 January 1655, her married name became Melville.[2] As a result of her marriage, Catharine Leslie was styled as Countess of Melville on 8 April 1690.
