OBIT: "THE MODERN LIGHT" THURS, JUN 19, 1902 PG 1 COL3:
"Mrs. Catharine Shultz died Saturday, Jun 14th at 9 a.m. at the home of her son, Samuel Shultz in Neutral, aged 75 years.
she had been suffering from a cancerous growth for some time and went to Kansas City to have an operation performed. She returned to Neutral reduced to such a state that she decided to remain at her son's and not return to her home southwest of that place until she regained strength; but this was not to be.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Lichtenwalter on Sunday, attended by a large number of mourning friends and relatives.
She was born in Coshocton County, Ohio, April 9 1827 and died at Neutral Kansas Jun 14, 1902, being 75 years 2 months and 5 days old. She was the mother of eleven children two are dead and nine living. She had fifty grandchildren, forty are living and ten dead. Thirty great grandchildren, twenty-eight living and two dead."

"Died, in Neutral, June 14, 1902 Catherine Shultz, aged 75 years. Funeral services conducted the 15th by Rev. Lichtenwalter and remains laid to rest in Beasley cemetery. Mrs. Shultz had been affliced with cancer for some time and went to Kansas City last winter for treatment. When she returned she stopped with her son, Sam, and never went home.
