Catherine V. Bachofer, a longtime resident of the New Cambria area, died February 22, 1984 at Allen Memorial Hospital, El Dorado.

Mrs. Bachofer was born Catherine Pickering on June 1, 1912, on a farm east of Salina. She moved to El Dorado six years ago from a farm south of New Cambria. She was a homemaker and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Solomon.

Her husband, Leo Bachofer, died in 1971. Survivors included four sons, Rodney, Roger, Ross and Rockne Bachofer; two daughters, Arlyn P. Lacock and Lea J. Cook; three brothers, Harold Pickering, Robert Pickering, and Stanley Pickering; four sisters, Mary Swanson, Helen Sweeney, Avis Ringle, and Nancy; 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
