BUTLER .-The Funeral of the late CATHERINE BUTLER, relict of the late James Butler, Education Department, will leave St. Thomas' Church,Lewisham, THIS DAY, at 1.45, for Rookwood. Requiem Mass, St. Thomas', 9 o'clock.

SMH, Tue 5 Sep 1918 (Source: TROVE) "On Saturday August 24 one of the old residents of the state passed away in the person of Mrs Catherine Butler, widow of the late Mr James Butler, of the denominational schools, and late Master of the public school, Enmore. Mrs Butler was born in Emly, Tipperary in the year 1836 and was only two years of age when she came to Australia with her parents to Sydney arriving in the New Year of 1839 (sic). It is interesting to learn that the emigrants who arrived on that day were classified by the daily papers as a "boatload of Papists". Though reared and educated in Sydney, the deceased imbibed the true spirit of her race. She regretted the fact that she had left Ireland at such an early age, and up to the last she read of, and discussed enthusiastically, the sorrows of her native land. To her last breath she kept the faith in her heart, and all of her actions if life were regulated by this spirit. Her husband predeceased her by 26 years and she leaves one son and five daughters to mourn their loss During her illness she was attended by Rev. Father Bonett, of Lewisham, and at her graveside were Rev Fathers T Phelan, PP, W Bonett, R Darby (grandson), Mr & Mrs W Darby, Mr & Mrs D Kerr and immediate relatives, RIP" (The China docked in Sydney in December, 1839 so it should be noted it was in the New Year of 1840)'
