About Catherine (Crysler) Clement

Daughter of Adam Chrysler and Ann Mary Hoover. She married James Clement in 1786. Catherine died while bearing their 11th child.

The home of James and Catherine, built in 1805, was located on the four mile creek near the line between lots 79 and 106. At the end of the war, many of the homes in the Niagara region were burned by retreating American soldiers.

Story goes, the Clement home was spared, because Catherine, widowed and pregnant with her 11th child, was living alone in the home with her children. The house still stands today, restored to the way it was when the Clement family lived there.
