The papers of Hillsboro, Ohio, tell of the death in that city of Mrs. Catherine Wever Collins, mother of Caspar Collins, the young lieutenant who was killed by the Indians at the Platte river bridge battle just west of town on July 26, 1865. The town of Casper was named after the young man but the spelling was changed many years ago.
