Catherine was born about 1675. It is not known where nor who her parents were.

Catherine wed John Dent II probably in St. Mary’s County, Maryland about 1700.
The only known children of John and Catherine are sons. They were;
- 1. John Dent III born about 1710, married Mary Blackman and died 1791.
- 2. Hatch Dent born about 1712
- 3. Michael Dent born about 1714
- 4. Benjamin Dent born about 1716
however, it is believed that they had 2 additional children who were under age when he died.
- 5. Thomas Dent
- 6. Peter Dent
a very complete argument is put forth by 1658-1758 Charles County MD Families "The first 100 years" on roots found at http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=mrmarsha&... The Charles County Gentry identifies John Dent II's wife as simply Catherine. Some say her name was Catherine Turner. However, I can find no proof of that.

Although I have commonly seen Catherine, wife of John DENT listed as a
TURNER, I think that may be in error. Do you know of any evidence for her being a TURNER? I have never seen anyone give a source for her being a TURNER. Harry Wright Newman's, *Charles County Gentry* only lists her as Catherine. My guess is that someone took the 1733 inventory of John DENT where George DENT and Edward TURNER signed as next of kin, and assumed that John DENT's wife Katherine was a TURNER. Fredric Z.
