About Catherine Ragan

Catherine Young was born 22 September 1788, in Ninety Six District (later became Union County) South Carolina, to Revolutionary War veteran William Young, and his wife, believed to have been Margaret Haile (daughter of William Haile of Union County, and brother of Capt John Haile). About 1806, her family moved to Dickson County, Tennessee, where she met her husband Nathaniel Ragan. He was born 20 Aug 1788 in Person Co., NC. They were married about 1811, in Dickson County. They would eventually move to Hardeman County, Tennessee, where they raised eleven children, before Nathan died in 1845. After Nathan's death, wife Catherine remained in Hardeman County, when she moved to live with her youngest son, Elisha. She is listed as a member of his household in the 1860 Tippah County, Mississippi, census. She died 25 Oct 1861.
