Sydney Mines, March 4 - The death occurred at St.Joseph’s Hospital, Glace Bay, of Catherine Levina Vickers, 18, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Vickers, Crescent Street, who passed away after one month’s illness. The deceased was a student at Notre Dame Convent and was very popular amond the students. Her passing at such an early age came as a shock to her family and friends. Funeral services took palce on Tuesday morning at the Church of the Immaculate Conception and were largely attended by many friends and relatives from throughout the district. Requiem High Mass was celebrated by Rev. D. L. MacIsaac, with mass being sung by Rev. M. J. MacSween. James Lamey presided at the organ. The lengthy cortege then proceeded to St. Mary’s cemetery where interment was made in the family lot. Rev. M. J. MacSween officiated at the graveside. Pallbearers were all uncles of the deceased, Gus Vickers, Daniel Vickers, Matthew Vickers, James Bonnar, Wendell Bonnar and Alex Bonnar. The numerous mass cards, messages of sympathy and floral tributes received by the family testified to the high regard in which the deceased was held in this community. Surviving are her parents, three brothers, Edgar, Russell and Devlin, and eight sisters, Loretta, Jessie, Jean, Willena, Lorraine, Vivian, Mary and Anne.
