About Cecil Earl LeGate
A funeral for Cecil LeGate, 70, Carson City resident for the past 19 years, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley Cemetery and Mausoleum with Rev. Roy C. Dowling officiating.
Mr. LeGate died Thursday at a local hospital. He was born March 12, 1920, to Jack and Hazel May Archer Legate.
He lived in Edmond, OK before moving to Carson City. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 28 years before retiring in 1983.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Among his survivors are his wife, Betty, of Carson City; two daughters: Patricia Gatlin, of Wellston, OK, and Nancy Ivins, of Yukon, OK; two stepsons: Gary Best, of Carson City, and Loewen Best, of Edmond, OK; two sisters: Helen Boardman, of Mission Viejo, CA, and Edith Irvin, of Bentonville, AR; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Eastside Memorial Park, with military honors by the War Veterans Memorial Association of Nevada.
