Family book of Rabbi from Ladi, ref #246
The following is a note from Eliav Friedman when he named his daughter after Chana Yenta Perlow:Our Chana Yenta was named after Aviva's maternal grandmother, Chana Yenta Perlow (nee Shneerson-Twersky). She was the daughter of the Tomapolasher Rav who came to America before WWII. She became her father's right hand, working as a translator for him and writing for him to numerous government offices. She eventually married R' Avraham (Avraham David Mordechai - whom our son Avraham is named for) Perlow, who was the son of the Koidenaver Rebbe - Reb Yosef. R' Avraham's father was niftar when he was a baby. He would go on to learn the yeshiva of the Chofetz Chaim. He never assumed the mantle of leadership of the chassidus because his mother had made him promise that he never would. He became a diamond cutter and was known for his sterling middos. My mother in law told me that she never heard him raise his voice. Bubby Perlow became known as Hannah Perlow and taught in the NYC public school system, ultimately becoming a principal. She was known far and wide for the care she showed her students and the exemplary marks her students and schools received. She ahd a strong personality and stood up for what she thought was right. The first thing Bubby did when I first met her was show me a business card that listed many of the numerous Rabbanim she descended from. The list included the Ba'al HaTanya, Rav Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev and many other Chassidic luminaries. She was very proud of her yichus!
