MANAGED FAIR

Funeral services for Chuck Callahan, retired Clearfiled businessman who died Friday morning ? o'clock, will be held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon from his home at 315 Reed Street. His pastor, Rev. Aaron Bennett of the Episcopal Church, will be in charge and interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mr Callahan was born in Philipsburg on February 4, 1872, a son of John and Calanndia Callahan. His father died 13 years ago at the age of 81 and his mother is still living in Clearfield, aged 84.

After attending the Philipsburg schools, Mr. Callahan worked for several years in lumbering and mining, then entered the restaurant business with the late Abe Tremble. In 1894 he came to Clearfield and managed and later owned the old Hotel Bloom at the present site of Bird's Cafe.

In 1902 he bought the St. Charles Hotel and operated it until 1916, when he sold the business and retired. He was active in community and church life and managed the Clearfield County Fair very successfully for several years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge.

He married Edna Michaels, daughter of the late Jack and Lucy Michaels of Mahaffey. She survives him, along with two daughters, Mrs. Alleon Shultz of Lynchburg, Va., and Mrs. Jane Spicer of Harrisburg; his mother and two brothers, Hobert and Scott both of Clearfield.

Mr. Callahan had been ill only a short time.
