About Charles Philip "Charlie" Currie
DOVER; Charles P. Currie, 85, of Back River Road, died on Tuesday, April. 1, 2008 at his home after a brief illness.
He was born on July 4, 1922 in Cambridge, Mass., the fourth child of Thomas and Clara (Devrey) Currie. He had resided in Dover for 52 years.
He worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 23 years as an electrician, and had been retired for 23 years. He spent his retirement years traveling and visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara B. (West) Currie; his three daughters, Margaret Currie and longtime friend, Pricilla Deshaies of Candia, Mary and husband, Stephen Gaulin of Greenland and Jean and husband, Zoe Dalton of Talbott, Tenn.; his six grandchildren, Angela Whitley, Amy Ball, Casey Shaver and Kevin Dalton of Tennessee, Kimberly and Laurie Gaulin of Greenland, and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in Charles' name to the Seacoast Hospice, Rockingham & Strafford Counties, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.
Friends and family may call on Monday, April 7, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover, with the Rev. Robert F. Cole, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Dover Point Road, Dover.
