Charles M. Ellsworth, better known as Charlie Butler, died at his home on So. Jacob St. The deceased was one of the oldest and best known glass workers in the city....he has several sons in the same business. His son Smith Butler, being manager of Hobbs Glass Factory.
The 1860 census also uses surname Butler, with wife and children Kate, Carroll, James, Thomas, William, Smith and George.
Charles appears on the 1880 census with surname Butler, wife Anna born Canada, with married sons Smith W. Butler and his wife Jane, children Kate and Sallie; also George R. Butler, wife Hannah, child Louisa; and Son Joseph A. Butler.
I do not know how name became changed to Ellsworth.
