Charles Henry Foster was born near Little Hawken, Ohio, Feb. 8, 1867, & departed this life at his home 3 miles south of Hamburg, IL, July 3, 1934, at the age of 67 years, 4 months & 25 days. He moved, when a small boy, with his parents to the vicinity of Atlas, IL, where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage with Lucinda Bensinger December 21, 1891 & about 2 years later moved near Hamburg where he spent his remaining years on the farm, rearing a family of 10 children unto manhood & womanhood. He was always of a cheerful disposition & a loving & kind father. He united with the Church of Christ at the Indian Creek congregation in November 1921 & lived faithful to the end serving as Elder until death. He became ill early last fall but all that medical skill & loving hands could do for him was of no avail & on July 3rd 1934, the death angel entered his home & called his soul on to await the resurrection morn. He leaves to mourn his departure a loving & kind wife, 10 children, namely, Mrs. Clara Herron, Mrs. Lillie Rodhouse, & Mrs. Anna Gates of Pleasant Hill, IL, Mrs. Lizzie Carroll of Milton, IL; Mrs. Freda Buchanon, Lee, Theodore, Mrs. Frances Knollhoff, Walter & Blanche of Hamburg, IL; 28 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Mrs. Minta Armstrong of Rockport, IL; 4 brothers, Kenneda & Robert Foster of Rockport, IL, Frank Foster of Roseville, IL, & Bazzle Foster of Hamburg, Iowa; & a host of loving & kind friends. 2 sisters, Maggie Foster & Mrs. Etta Williams, 1 son, Frank Foster, 2 grandchildren & 1 great grandchild have preceded the subject of this sketch in death.
