About Charles Louis Loos, Jr

Educator. Earned B.A. and M.A. at Bethany College in West Virginia. He was a teacher, principal, and superintendent in public schools in Ohio. Fairly early in his career, he spent four years as superintendent of schools in Millersburg, Ohio, in the early 1870s. The rest of his professional life was with the Dayton (Ohio) Public Schools as a teacher and principal. He always aimed to raise the work of the schools to a higher level and and to provide instruction that was a thorough preparation for the practical duties of life. His style of teaching was noted for its clear and consise manner. The Charles Loos Elementary School was named to honor him. He also served for three years on the Ohio State Board of School Examiners and in 1888 was elected to the Dayton City Board of School Examiners.

The burial site for his son Charles Louis Loos has not been located yet. However his grandsons John Westcott Loos and Ned W. Loos are buried in California cemeteries.
