Notes

He started the first grocery store in Twin Bluffs, WI, and was appointed the second postmaster. In 1886, he was appointed the station master for Twin Bluffs and his brother, Elmer, bought out his share in the grocery store. He and his wife took their wedding trip to Jacksonville, FL, to attend the first annual convention of the International Association of Ticket Agents, of which he was a charter member. In 1894, he was transferred by the railroad company to Prairie du Sac where he was an agent for seven years. In 1901, he became ill and moved to Vivan, SD. He became station master at Vivian in 1906, and held that position until his retirement in June 1937.
