Charles M. Nichols. 71 Newton
Avenue, for many years a prominent figure in local industrial
circles, was 80 years old on
Thursday, but there was no anniversary observance of any kind
because of the fact that he is a
patient at the W.CJL Hospital.
He was long associated with his
father, the late Benjamin Nichols,
in the foundry and machinery
business, and took an active port
in the affairs of the community,
serving at one time or another as
a member of the old common
council, the 13th Separate Company, National Guard of New
York; Eagle Hose Company in
the old Volunteer Fire Department, and in various Masonic organizations. As a member of the
local National Guard unit he was
one of its foremost rifle shots and
participated in brigade and state
competition.
