Published in the Daily Times, New Philadelphia, Ohio, Monday, May 9, 1921, p7:

"Charles, 23, son of John Pershing, died at the state hospital for epileptics on Tuesday and was brought here Wednesday morning and taken to his home near Ragersville. Funeral was held on Thursday at Ragersville. He had been in that institution since October, 1919. He leaves father, brother, Rev B H Pershing of Pittsburg, and two sisters, Alta and Elsie, of the home farm."
