As written by Charles A. Fry grandson: Charles Reed came from a Hollow near Duncannon, Penna, in Perry County. He had eleven brothers and sisters. In all of mothers (Jesty) tales of home I never heard her mention any of her father's brother's, sister's or parents. I could belive she never saw any of her father's family.
Charlie Reed was a slender medium sized man who swore fluently, drank and fought, he often went to illegal cock fights. BUT everybody liked Charlie Reed, he had a sharpe wit. He was a boss in a Puddling Mill where they processed iron ore. To my knowledge he did not hang around saloons, his word was his bond and he was honest as the day was long.
