Charles S. Runkle

Son of Peter and Mary Runkle, was born in Wells Co., Ind., January 3, 1870.

He was united in marriage to Ida M. Bales, Jan. 6, 1891. To this union there were born seven children,,[sic,3]sons and 4 daughters, one deceased an infant, the other children namely, Oscar, Veda, Clarice, Alice, Franklin and Helen survive and were permitted to be present on this the saddest day of their experience in life. This union was honorably maintained and mutually enjoyed by both until broke by the husband's death, which occured[sic] at his late residence in Blackford County, Indiana on September 8, 1909, age 39 years 8 months and 5 days.

Our friend, Mr. Runkle spent practally[sic] all his life in Wells County, Ind., he having recently located in Blackford County where he was surrounded with kind friends and neighbors who were untiring in their efforts to relieve and care for him during his recent suffering and last illness. He leaves to mourn his loss in addition to his devoted companion and the above named children and aged parents whose tender affections and sympathy go out in behalf of the widowed companion and the fatherless children. He also leaves one brother, Mr. Cary Runkle, one sister, Mrs. C. E. Proper besides many other relatives and friends. We trust our sympathy and love may go out in behalf of all these mourning relatives.

Funeral services was[sic] conducted by Elder E. E. Anderson, in the presence of a large concourse of people on Friday in the Church after which interment was made in I. O. O. F. Cemetery, Montpelier, Indiana.
