WWII MILITARY SERVICE: Per his obituary, Charles P. Shimkus of Tewksbury, Massachusetts was killed in Germany while serving his country, on June 24, 1944. He was the son of the late Domenic and Anna Shimkus. Source: obituary, published by The Boston Daily Globe (Boston, Massachusetts), August 5, 1949, page 15.
