About Charles Wesley, Jr.
GEDCOM Note
English Musician and Composer. The son of hymn writer Charles Wesley, he is usually referred to as "Charles Wesley junior" to avoid confusion with his father. Born in Bristol, England he was regarded as a musical prodigy in childhood, and was playing the organ before the age of three. As an adult, he became a professional musician but he did not enjoy public performance, and worked mainly as a private organist, at one time to the Prince Regent, who later became King George IV of England. He never married, and was connected with the royal family through much of his life, having first played at the Queen's House at the age of 18. He died in London, England at the age of 76. A small number of his compositions are still played today.
