Charlie Ray Heavner

Mr. Charlie Ray Heavner, loving father and husband of 63 years, age 84, of Decatur, Tenn. went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 5, 2006.

His funeral will be 11 a.m.. Saturday, September 9, at Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Sides officiating. Burial to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. tonight, September 8, at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Heavner was born July 18, 1922 in Catawba County to the late James Heavner and Nannie Carpenter Heavner. He was a life long member of AMVETS Post #90, Decatur, Tenn. and a recipient of the Purple Heart and several other metals and ribbons.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bridges Heavner of the home; two daughters, Geraldine Deden of Homestead, Fla., Yvonne Wilson of Decatur, Tenn.; four brothers, Edward Heavner of Biloxi, Miss., Carol Heavner of Lincolnton, Randy Heavner of Newton, Joe Heavner of Lincolnton; six sisters, Judy Mosteller of Lincolnton, Helen Heavner of Mich., Ruby Canipe of Lincolnton, Kathleen Reynolds of Calif., Mary Shook of Maiden, Louise Finger of Vale; nine grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren.

Warlick Funeral Home of Lincolnton is serving the Heavner family.

According to (U.S. World War II Army Enlistment Records 1938-1946) Charlie and his brother Russell enlisted at Fort Bragg for the duration of the war or other emergency, plus 6 months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law. Russell enlisted on June 24, 1944, and Charlie on June 27, 1944,
