  • (obituary glued into Bible)

McAlpin, Died, at Murphysboro, ILL., on Oct. 21st, 1890, at the residence

of her son-in-law, G.W. Hampton, Mrs. Charlotte McAlpin, aged sixty-seven

years, two months, and fourteen days, after an illness of ten days. She was

born in Guilford county, N.C., Aug 7th, 1823. Her Parents moved to

Lexington, Davidson county, and in 1842 she was baptized by Elder W. M.

Hamner at Marion Church, near Lexington; was married March 26th, 1843, to

Rev. Hugh McAlpin; moved to Sampson county in 1847; remained there until

1876, when she with her husband and family moved to Southern Illinois. She

left a husband and ten children, and twenty-five grandchildren to mourn her

loss, but we mourn not as those who have no hope, for she has gone to that

rest that remaineth to the people of God. Husband, Rev. H. McAlpin of

Cartersville, Ill., has recently been called to part with his dear aged

servant of Christ. For forty-eight years, they had been one in life and in

the Master's service.
