Schamroth Rapeport N. The Rapeport Meyer family sojourn in South Africa. 2014 Charlotte Kantor married Robert Kantor. They were cousins. Robert Kantor was the manager for Ohlsson's Breweries. 16 He was extensively involved in provisioning the Imperial Military Railways during the Anglo Boer War. Thirsty soldiers gave a major impetus to local breweries including Ohlsson's. Robert Kantor was the first occupant of the house, ‘The Shires’ which was designed by E.C. Choinier in 1904 for Ohlsson's Breweries. 16 The house was declared a national heritage site, and is situated in Parktown, Johannesburg. The Kantors lived into their seventies and are buried adjacent to one another in the Brixton Cemetery, Johannesburg. 17,18 They had five children.
