Otter was a Cherokee man

Biography

Otter was born about 1830 in the Cherokee Nation (East). He is the son of Old Man Scraper and Tiana Smith. [1] Otter, listed as "Cheyah" appears on the 1851 Drennan Roll with his father. [2] His date of death is uncertain. He appears on the 1896 Cherokee census living in Tahlequah District, but apparently died before 1900 when Dawes Roll applications were taken. [3]

Otter (William C.) Scraper, (Dee-su-gaw-skee2, /Oo-ka-wor-dar/1 ) b. ABT 1830 in Cherokee Indian Nation East, d. AUG 1896. Cherokee name is Che-yah. He lived in Goingsnake District.

    Otter was a Councilman & Interpreter for the Cherokee National Council in1863.
    He married Sah-kin-ney (Sallie) Kingfisher, d. SEP 1888.
                     Children:
