  • Zodwa Ngema who had worked for George Janssen for thirteen years, hired a traditional healer, Bheki Mahlangu, from Alexander to rob her employer and dispose of his girlfriend, as Cheryl was wanting to move house. Another accomplice, Lybon Makhubela, also became involved with the murder and robbery plan.

  • Judge Philip Hattingh passed his judgment on 8th April 2008 in the Johannesburg High Court. All three were charged with murder, and two with aggravated robbery, and found guilty. Mahlangu was also found guilty of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. Ngema's bail was revoked shortly afterwards. The three remained in custody until June 4th 2008, when they were expected to be sentenced.
