The Daily News, Huntingdon PA. Wednesday, April 11, 1945 CHESTER R. ESCHENBACH HAS SERGEANT'S RANK "With the 35th Infantry Division in Germany; Private First Class Chester R. Eschenbach, Huntingdon, with the 134th Infantry, has been promoted to Sergeant. Eschenbach, son of Mrs. Charlotte Eschenbach, in service since August 11, 1942 has seen action in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland, and Germany, and is entitled to wear one battle star. In addition he has earned the Purple Heart."
He returned from his European service aboard the Queen Mary which sailed Sept. 5, 1945 from Southampton, England and arrived in New York on Sept. 10, 1945.
Chester and his wife Margaret had a son, David Paul and a daughter, Barbara Jean.
The family resided in Wesleyville, Erie County in 1950. Chester re-enlisted in the Army in Sept. 1950, was stationed with the 28th Division at Camp Atterbury, Indiana and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He was discharged March 26, 1952. They then lived Erie from 1953 to 1956 and in Shenango Township near New Castle, Lawrence County from 1956 to 1964.
The Daily News, Huntingdon and Mount Union Monday, December 8, 1969 "Chester Ray Eschenbach, 47, of 68 North Gay Road, North East, PA., died unexpectedly at his home Saturday, December 6, 1969, at 11:30 a.m. Born February 18, 1922 at Renovo, he was the son of Roland J. and Charlotte Eschenbach." He was a manager at Niagara Plastics at Erie. Surviving were his mother, a brother, two sisters, his wife, and his children.
