Chloe M. Howe Thomas

Died:

In Ann Arbor, Sept. 7th, Mrs. Chloe, wife of Mr. Z.M. Thomas, in the 31st year of her age.

She had lain in her grave but a few hours when her infant son expired, aged 3 weeks and 2 days. The next day, Sept. 9th, the dark mansion of the dead was opened to receive the cold remains of the little sufferer, whose coffin was placed upon the bosom of the unconscious mother, there to remain until the resurrection of the just and the of the unjust.

Chloe M. Howe was the first wife of Zebulon Mead Thomas, whom she married on July 17, 1836.

They had five known children:

• 2. Elisha M. Thomas b. 8/7/1839
• 3. Theresa A. Thomas b. 5/30/1841
• 4. Celia Adelaide Thomas Stocking (m. Horace Stocking in Coldwater, Branch County, Michigan on 10/20/1872) b. 6/2/1846
• 5. Unnamed son, b. 8/17/1847 and d. 9/9/1847).

A year after Chloe's death, her husband remarried Curance Ann Richmond. They moved to Jamestown, Steuben County, Indiana, and eventually to Missouri.
