Christa Ross (1953 - 2013)
Christa Ross (59), a retired teacher, was found dead, half naked, floating in her bath, in Kleinmond, WC, on 31st August 2012. The autopsy uncovered she had a broken bone in her throat, which initially lead the police to believe she had been strangled. Christa's nails had also been pulled out. Only two items were missing, her mobile phone and engagement ring.
Police also believed her husband Abraham (Rossie) (61), was the prime suspect, after gathering evidence. He was arrested in July 2013, but released days later after the director of public prosecutions declined to prosecute, even though Rossie had failed a polygraph. Christa's murder became a mystery, which lead the family to consult a psychic.
After five years during an inquest in October 2017, new evidence came to light, where Captain Danie Rautenbach testified about finding the pliers in the guest room, drops of Rossie’s blood found on a mat and towel found in the bathroom where Christa’s limp body had been found. He also testified that when police viewed CCTV footage of Rossie passing through security at Cape Town International Airport he had looked “nervous”. The inquest was postponed until February 2018. No further reports can be found.
