The Gordon Journal, Gordon Nebraska, Oct. 18,1950 page 2 column 5 OBITUARY Chris Nelson Chris Nelson, son of John and Margaret Nelson, was born Sept. 12, 1870 at Fremont, Nebr. and departed this life on Oct. 11, 1950, at the age of 80 years and 29 days. Mr. Nelson was the oldest of 11 children; four brothers and three sisters survive him. In 1892, he was united in marriage to Millie Hopkins of Tilden, Nebr. who died in February of 1937. Nine children were born to this union. Survivors include his brothers and sisters; eight children: Amos, San Diego, Calif.; Roy, Tacoma, Washington; Alvin, Gordon, Nebr.; Marvin, Denby, S. D.; Clifford, Torrance, Calif.; Gardner, Omaha, Nebr.; Bernard, US army; a number of grandchildren; other relatives and friends. One daughter, Mrs. Leona Coulthard preceded him in death in December of 1949.
