Christian Friedrich Rall was born 5 Januray 1730 in Kassel as the younger brother of Johann Gottlieb Rall (1726 - 1776) and Alexander Franz Rall.

Rewarded for good service in 1754 by Prince Frederick II of Hesse-Kassel. From 1756 to 1763 he is in the Dutch navy and makes long voyages on different ships. Participates in the Seven Years War in the army of the Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg. Fought at Tsigenbeyne, Frankenberg, Herberstein and was the commandant of the fortress Herzberg. Served in the Russian army in 1770 with the rank of Captain. Participated in the assault on the island of Lemnos in 1776 and awarded the Order of St. George. Receives permission from Catherine II in 1776 to enroll as a volunteer in the Hessian troops taking part in the war with the American colonies of England. Commanded a regiment during the siege of Trenton in December 1776. Returned to Russia in 1785 with the rank of Generalmajor. Died 23 December 1797 in Smolensk.
