About Christian H Hoffer
Christian was born in Conewago Township. He learned the craft of surveying from his grandfather. In 1874, he moved to a farm in Middletown. He was appointed on the board of street commissioners and then became the surveyor of the borough. He was also elected as Justice of the Peace until his retirement.
On Nov 12, 1917 Christian gave a tract of land to Middletown for a park. The park consists of 12 acres along the Swatara Creek. Descendants of Matthias Hoffer hold an annual reunion at the park on the Sunday nearest July 29th. Hoffer Park
