Update Sept 2018 see discussion

”I have looked at the original church records of Boston,St. Botolph parish, England. Though I have found several Mellowes I haven't found no Christian Mellowes. So I think she is not the daughter of Abraham Mellowes.”

She married Sergeant Thomas Pettit, son of Henri Pettit, in November 1629 in Essex, England. She and Sergeant Thomas Pettit emigrated from England, leaving March 1629/30; sailing on the "Talbot."

She died on 2 September 1665 in Newton, NY. She died after 1673 in New York.

"I have been searching for several years for documentation to prove the connection of Christian Mellows/Mellowes to her parents, Abraham and Martha (Bulkeley) Mellowes. There is a lot of confusion regarding Christian's parentage. Some have a John Mellowes listed as her father, while others list her father as Oliver Mellowes of Braintree, Mass. I believe that Oliver was Christian's brother, and that Oliver had a daughter whom he named Christian, after his presumed sister. I don't believe that John Mellowes was the father of this Christian, b. 1611, and was perhaps a John from a later generation. I feel fairly certain that Christian, b. 1611 England, was the daughter of Abraham and Martha Mellowes but would like to have proof of the connection. Has anyone ever seen the original document of the will of Abraham Mellowes or the original marriage bond of Christian Mellowes and Thomas Pettit from their marriage in Essex, England in November 1629? Any assistance or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. "
