About Christian Roth

Roth. - Christian Roth was born near Logelbach, Alsace, Germany, Feb. 17, 1845; died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Rose Strubar, near Aurora, Oreg., Oct. 13, 1912; aged 67 y. 7 m. 26 d.

United in marriage to Catharine Rich Sept. 2, 1869. To this union were born 13 children - 2 boys and 1 girl preceded him to the heavenly home. His companion was called up higher 3 months ago.

He leaves to mourn his departure 4 sons, 6 daughters, 29 grandchildren, all living in Oregon; 3 sisters living in Iowa.

Sunday, Sept. 1, 1912, while Bro. Roth was attending church services at Zion, he was seriously injured by a spirited horse which he was driving. One week before his death pneumonia developed, being the direct cause of his death. During his sickness he expressed the desire to be called over yonder.

Funeral services were held at the Zion Amish Mennonite Church of which he was a faithful member, conducted by Bros. A. P. Troyer and Edward Z. Yoder. Text, John 11:25. The former in German and the latter in English. He was laid to rest in the cemetery nearby.
