About Christo Morrison

Christon Morrison (1948 – 2024)

Brief overview:

Christo (76) and his wife Christa Morrison (73) were found brutally murdered on their farm Rietfontein in Glen, Free State, on Saturday 4th May 2024.

Christo was found 300 metres from the farmhouse; Christa was found dumped in the septic tank. Both had sustained multiple open wounds to their upper body.

Sgt. Mahlomola Kareli, police spokesperson, said that when the police arrived on the scene, the house's doors were open. "In the house there was blood on the floor. The homestead was ransacked, but the elderly couple were not in the house," said Kareli.

Among other things, tools and electronic items were stolen from the house.

Glen police are investigating charges of murder and home invasion. No one has yet been arrested in connection with the murders, but according to reports, people have been questioned about the case.

Jan van Niekerk, FF Plus leader in the Free State, says this party strongly condemns the brutal murder. "Farm attacks and murders take a different form than housebreaking and robbery in urban areas, especially the violence and inhumanity that comes with it." He said the FF Plus sympathizes with the family of the couple, who do not deserve to experience this grief.

Dr. Roy Jankielsohn, DA leader in the Free State, also expressed his deepest condolences to the Morrison family. "The incident is just another tragic event after a recent attack on Ladybrand," says Jankielsohn and at the same time attributes the incidents to the ANC's flawed policy on policing. He says South Africans live in fear every day and the danger of theft, murder or rape is ever-present.

The couple's son, Melt, is at his parents' town house in Bloemfontein and his sister, Dia, arrived from the Cape.
