About Christoph Ehresmann

GEDCOM Note

Christop Ehremann was born 21 December 1769, the son of Martin and Anna Maria Gotteskind Ehresmann. His first wife, Anna Maria Vogel, was born may 25, 1769. They had a son named Johann Friedrich, born January 16, 1794 in a small German town called Billigheim.

Christoph's second wife Rachel was born around 1769. They had five children when they emigrated from Billigheim for the Russian empire in 1809.

Billigheim was in the region Bad Berzabern, Palatinate, and is located not far from the current border between Germany and France. Their journey to Russia lasted from April 12 to June 26,1809. While en route, they stopped at several towns, some of which are located in what is now Southern Poland, a passport record indicates.

During a census taken in 1816, the family was living in Neudorf, which is a small town now known as Karmanovo. It is near the Black Sea, about 70 miles northwest of Odessa, Ukraine. Karmanovo is near Moldavo, a republic once part of the former Soviet Union. The region is now part of a tiny country called the Trans-Dniester Republic. Our forefathers often referred to the region around the Black Sea as "Russia" or South Russia.

Friedrich's, Konrad's and Philipp's families all lived in Neudorf when another Russian Census was taken in 1858.
