Note: He was born Nov. 16, 1709, at Groton, m. Sept. 10, 1735, at Groton, Eunice Prentice, dau. of Samuel and Esther (Hammond) Prentice. In his will, made June 10, 1778, Christopher Avery mentioned his wife, his five sons, Christopher, Nathan, Thomas, Samuel, and Oliver, his 'three oldest daughters,' Esther Williams, Eunice Avery and Lucy Allyn, his 'three youngest daughters' Abigail, Sarah and Hannah Avery. The will was probated Sept. 30, 1778 (Stonington Wills, 3:192) He died July 2, 1778, at Ledyard.
