Enlisted in the Fifth Virginia Regiment, 1776, as a soldier. He moved to Wilkes County, Georgia about 1794 from Virginia. He died in 1815 while on a visit to his brother-in-law, Whitefield Tucker. From the DAR filings of Mrs. Belle Ir win Wharton. DAR ID number 34441. Also number 32423.
Per Irwins and Their Kin Christopher was the son of William Irvine and Ann Craig. William and Ann had three children, Christopher, David and Johanna who died in childhood. Ann died in Ireland and William came with his two sons to America. Christopher was to eventually settle in Wilkes County, GA. He first married Louisa Tucker and, after she died, he then married Prudence Echols. (Some genealogies include the name Lucinda as a first name).
According to “The Roster of Revolutionary Soldiers in Georgia” Christopher (born 1725 in Ireland) was a Captain of Co. 5th Ga. Regiment from which he received a land bounty in Georgia. He was married to Louisa Tucker in 1779 and then to Prudence Echols in 1797
